Golden West Lapping Compound
Golden West is proud to introduce a new back lapping compound. We have taken a low-tech, commodity product, and brought it into today’s high-tech marketplace. In the past, technicians have used the look, smell, and sound of lapping compound working to judge the quality of the product. We feel this is far too arbitrary. You will find pictures that will show how new bed-knives look after they have been lapped-in with the Golden West product as well as with other leading competitors’ products. Pictures will show grass clippings that are the result of this reel-sharpening test. We feel the results will show that after sharpening with the Golden West compound, a sharper, cleaner cut of the clippings will provide a much smoother surface with less bruising to the grass, leaving a high-quality, and healthier, playing surface. |

Greens Test
In both Competitor #1 and Competitor #2 note the non-uniformity and coverage of the sharpening action on the bed-knife. Also note the ragged, torn clippings these two products deliver. The Golden West compound gives a much more uniform and much larger coverage of the bed-knife. Note the cleanly cut clippings that results from the use of our product. |
Fairway Test (Wet Grass)
In Competitor #3 note the gouging and non-uniformity of sharpening action, once again leaving jagged, torn clippings. With Competitor #4, although the sharpening action is uniform, it has sharpened the bed-knife very slowly. The grass clippings are a little cleaner cut but tearing of the cuttings is still evident. For Golden West, note the uniformity with which the bed-knife is sharpened, and once again delivers a sharper, cleaner cut. |
